Katja Rivera is a Puerto Rican/German curator, writer, and researcher based in Chicago. Her work in modern and contemporary art is motivated by movement, translation, and fragmentation. With a focus on Latine artistic practices, she is committed to transnational connections, decolonial methodologies, and an inclusive understanding of visual culture.
Katja previously held positions as Curator of Contemporary Art at the Fine Arts Center at Colorado College, Assistant Curator at Logan Center Exhibitions at the University of Chicago, and Research Associate in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Art Institute of Chicago.
She was an Association of Art Museum Curators Propel Fellow (2023–24), and her work has been supported by the Terra Foundation for American Art, the David C. and Sarajean Ruttenberg Foundation, and Elizabeth Firestone Graham.
